Alex Hare is a director and writer of music-driven theatre, as well as a theatre producer, video editor, and creator of internet art.
His most recent project, a micro movie musical called CAPRICORN 29, premiered online via The Tank and Post Theatrical in spring 2021. Co-written with Julia Izumi, it features original songs by Laura Galindo, Daniel & Patrick Lazour, Stompcat, and Storm Thomas. “Capricorn 29 is actually brilliant.” - Vulture/NY Magazine (read Helen Shaw’s full review)
He is currently developing the new musical A Burning Church through the A Blade of Grass fellowship and New Ohio/IRT’s Archive Residency. Along with Zhailon Levingston and Nehemiah Luckett, Alex is part of Musical Theatre Factory’s MAKERS cohort (2020-22). He received the SDC Foundation’s 2020 Charles Abbott Fellowship. Assistant credits: School of Rock, Side Show (Broadway).
For four years, Alex was the associate artistic director of Corkscrew Theater Festival, an NYC-based festival of new plays. You can check out some of his video and web design work here.
He’s motivated (ok, I’m motivated, no one else is behind this Squarespace page…) to create networks of artists mutually supporting each other in order to build a future that isn’t dictated by concentrated power held by the few. So, don’t hesitate to reach out!
